SPELARFÖRENINGEN is the professional football players’ association in Sweden. The main goal and purpose of the association is to protect players and their interests in all possible ways and to improve the conditions for all football players in Sweden and also around the world through FIFPro – the world players’ union.

IT CAN HAPPEN IN A SECOND

ALMOST EVERY football player on a professional level will sometime during his/her career end up in a situation where you have a long-term injury, are out of contract or not treated okey by the club, agent, insurance companies or other authorities.

Around 70% of the players in Allsvenskan and Damallsvenskan are members, Spelarföreningen will protect those members in two ways: collectively and individually.

THE COLLECTIVE PROTECTION applies to all players in Allsvenskan, Superettan, Damallsvenskan and Elitettan through negotiation of collective bargaining agreements (cba:s) with the clubs as well as standard agreements with the national association.

A collective bargaining agreement contains conditions for occupational pensions, insurances, vacation and advertising assignments. But a collective bargaining agreement with good conditions does not come for free.

Your membership in Spelarföreningen supports our work and gives strength to improve the football players’ working conditions

ON AN INDIVIDUAL LEVEL you as a member can protect yourself even more. Together
with the trade union, called Unionen, and their a-kassa we can offer you a complete
financial and legal protection as well as advice on your particular situation.

THE QUESTION YOU should ask yourself is: How do I value my football career?

PLAYER REPRESENTATIVES THERE IS ONE players’ representative in each club in Allsvenskan, Damallsvenskan and Superettan. The players’ representatives play a vital part of Spelarföreningen. They not only deliver essential information to the players in their team but make the organisation aware of any questions or concerns the players might have. They are our eyes and ears within the clubs. This quick contact between our members and the staff means players get the help they need instantly.

DO NOT FORGET A-KASSAN A MEMBERSHIP IN Spelarföreningen and Unionen does not automatically mean that you are a part of the unemployment insurance system called a-kassan.

If you are a EU/EES citizen or a permanent resident here in Sweden we recommend you to join Unionens a-kassa if you plan to stay and work in Sweden for more than a year.

It works as a security for you if you get unemployed when your contract expires. If you get unemployed there is a possibility to receive 80 % of your salary from a-kassan during the first 100 days up to a maximum of SEK 33 000 month.

For salarys above that level the income insurance from Unionen kicks in to cover up to SEK 60 000. You have to be a member of a-kassan and pay the membership fee for at least 12 months to be entitled to the unemployment benefits.

The fee for a-kassan is SEK 170 month.

JOIN SPELARFÖRENINGEN FOR THE SERVICES that Spelarföreningen provide there is a membership fee.

You can join by talking to your player representative or visiting our web page Spelarforeningen.com (click on “bli medlem” and fill in all the necessary data).

Are you playing in Allsvenskan or Superettan your membership also includes a membership in Sweden’s largest trade union, called Unionen, to provide a greater protection for you as a professional football player and the fee is paid monthly through
Unionen depending on your salary. (from SEK 50 to 390 month).
